The following memo was sent via email staff on February 1, 2016, from Dr. Monica Mendez-Grant, Vice President for Student Life.
At Texas Woman’s University, it is our intent to provide an inclusive and affirming learning environment to facilitate the success of all our students, faculty, and staff. We strive in our everyday efforts to prepare students to graduate with the skills they need to thrive personally and professionally in an evolving, multicultural society. As the University’s strategic plan is unfolding, we remain committed to preparing our TWU community to effectively interact with diverse groups of people at work and in society. We know that by participating in campus programs and events, students can better learn how to interact sensitively and respond respectfully.
The Division of Student Life has created a month long series of events and programs in celebration of Black History Month. This programming supports the overall goals of education and enrichment in relation to the contributions of peoples of African ancestry and culture to society, past and present. Attached is the Black History Month calendar and we hope you can join us for some of the events.
