The following memo was sent via email to faculty, staff, and students on February 5, 2016, from Jo Anne Hawthorne, Research Funding Coordinator, Research & Sponsored Programs.
Sponsored Programs Information Network (SPIN)
SPIN is a database of over 40,000 grant programs from government, private, and non-profit sponsors. SPIN is available to TWU faculty, staff and students.
The SPIN database allows users to perform customized searches for funding opportunities in defined areas of interest. Searches can be saved; they can be set up to provide email alerts; and they can be shared with others. Individual programs can be “bookmarked” for review at another time.
SMARTS is an electronic matching and funding opportunity notification system in SPIN which provides investigators with a direct and targeted electronic link to comprehensive, current, and available national and international research funding opportunities. The investigator profile information is collected and used for matching within the SPIN database. Matching is conducted on a daily basis and programs are automatically emailed to individuals.
To establish your SPIN account please Click here to search the InfoEd SPIN Database. Click on “Sign In” in the upper right corner. At the bottom of the Login box click “Need to create a new profile?” and you will be asked for your name, email address, and your username of choice. You will then receive an e-mail confirming your submission. ORSP will confirm your status and you will be able to sign into SPIN and begin your search.
You will find a Quick Start SPIN Users Guide on our website (http://www.twu.edu/research/searchable-funding-databases.asp). Additionally there are many training videos listed under Help when you sign into the SPIN website.
