Staff Recognition: 2015-16

Texas Woman’s University staff have enjoyed an excellent year on local, regional, national, and international levels. TWU staff members have been awarded prestigious honors through professional associations, presented at conferences, placed in national competitions and more.

  • Graphic Designers Renee Thompson and Holly Nelson receive five American Graphic Design Awards
  • Karen Garcia and Ashley Spinozzi receive regional CASE Accolates Awards for writing
  • Karrie Fletcher leads charge to secure TWU’s 3rd place national ranking in the university’s first-ever Outdoor Nation Challenge
  • Tawny Alonzo, Michelle Reeves, and Jessica Burchfield were recognized by the National Center for Higher Education Risk Management for developing a script for interviewing Title IX investigations
Notable Professional Service
  • Housing Director Jill Eckardt serves on the Executive Board of the Southwest Association of College and University Housing Officers and is a faculty member of the James Grimm National Housing Training Institute
  • Lisa Haynes just completed a 2-year term as Secretary for the Texas Association for Institutional Research
  • Director of Career Services Lisa Garza is the Chair of the Local Arrangements Committee for the upcoming Cooperative Education and Internship Association (CEIA) conference, completing her term as Vice President
  • Meredith Maddox recently completed Leadership Denton 2016
Notable Professional Presentations
  • Academic Advisors Kim Taylor, David Infante, Brandie Golleher, Keith Brown, and Janelle Davis collaborated on “That Wasn’t In the Training Manual: A Collaborative Discussion for New Advisors” presented at the TEXAAN Conference and the NACADA Region 7 Conference
  • Tawny Alonzo, Michelle Reeves, and Jessica Burchfield presented on developing a script for interviewing Title IX investigations at the 2015 ATIXA/SCOPE Joint National Conference
  • Kyle Voyles presented on a panel on how to build campus community at the NIRSA regional conference
