Nominations Due by Monday, June 5th
It is that time of the year when we are accepting nominations for the TWU Staff Council! This coming year 11 of the 29 seats representing different staff EEOC groups will become open. If you are passionate about making TWU one of the best places to work, or know someone who is, please nominate yourself or a colleague to represent the staff of TWU. This is a great professional development opportunity in support of our fellow TWU family!
The Staff Council is organized to foster a spirit of unified community among staff members of Texas Woman’s University and to provide opportunities for their democratic representation. The goal of Staff Council is to promote a positive and collaborative work environment. Our purposes are to serve as a representative advisory council; provide a vehicle for communication of staff interests, concerns, and issues; present recommendations to University leadership; and promote positive morale among TWU staff.
The University leadership has actively solicited Staff Council input in the vision for the University and the development of new initiatives and programs by carefully and honestly listening to the staff needs in an ever-changing and challenging work culture. This past year, TWU Staff Council worked with the University on the new TWU Staff Development Grant program, Strategic Plan, Flex Work Schedule, Performance Evaluation System, Merit Pay, and Staff and Faculty Affinity Groups… to name a few. In order to keep this engagement and momentum ongoing, please considerer joining Staff Council by nominating yourself or a deserving colleague!
If you need assistance determining your EEOC, please contact Angelica Landeros, Chair of the Membership Committee, at email@example.com.

Staff Council Duties and Responsibilities
The three main responsibilities Staff Council representatives are:
- Communication with Constituents: The Staff Council representative’s role is to act as a voice for their constituents’ concerns and needs, provide information about opportunities for personal and professional development, promote ways to become more involved in TWU initiatives, and facilitate communication and discussion of university policies which affect staff members.
- Service on a Committee: The work of Staff Council is accomplished through committees. Elected members are required to serve on one standing committee, but are free to serve on additional committees. The standing committees include Professional Development, Service, Communications, Recognition and Rewards, and Membership.
- Attendance at Meetings: Staff Council meets on the second Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. By attending these meetings, staff representatives remain informed about issues affecting their constituents and act as their EEOC’s representative voice.
If you have questions about this or any other Staff Council Membership Election procedure, please contact Angelica Landeros-Henderson, Chair of the Membership Committee, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
